Accessible Housing Society’s mission is to create opportunities for safe, affordable, barrier-free housing for persons with mobility issues by promoting innovation, partnerships, education and care excellence.

The Society has the following positions available:

• Full time at 40 hours per week (evenings) with benefits
• Part time at 20 – 26 hours per week (days)
• Casual/Relief – hours vary (days, evenings, overnight)

In collaboration with the Team Leader, the Support Worker would assist residents within Fourth Dimension Group Home to maximize their independence.  This position would provide support to individuals in areas of self care, life skill development, community involvement, recreation and day to day living.

The responsibilities include:

• Use appropriate communication to document and to follow correct documentation protocol.
• Participate in goal development, assessment and follow up with residents
• Assist residents with medication under his or her direction, following procedures outlined for the program.
• Assist residents in all areas of daily living
• Planning and implementing activities within the home and outside the home for residents.
• Provides support to residents for personal laundry, making bed, changing linen as per schedules and when requested.
• Perform light housekeeping

Skills Required:

• Certification as a Health Care Aide.
• First Aid and CPR
• An interest in supporting people with physical disabilities.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Able to accept responsibility, show good judgment and initiative.
